The Oklahoma City Mother Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers played host to four members of the Shreveport Mother Chapter of the Buffalo
soldiers over the “Labor Day” weekend.

The President “Soulja” Ms. Cat Eyez, Deuce “Sgt. of Arms” and Ms. Candi rode down on Saturday morning from Shreveport. By the way for
those that did not notice all four were riding Harley’s. I mean some bad bikes. The four some were being hosted by Lady “K” Ms. Karen
Evans and “Lawn Mover” Mr. Lonnie Mitchell, members of the Oklahoma Mother chapter.

Ms. Phyllis “PJ” and I left late, and caught up with our group of soldiers in Duncan Oklahoma. Our president “Lil’ Al” Mr. Alvin Scott,
“Road Dog” Mr. Larry Fuston, “Lawn Mower” Mr. Lonnie Mitchell, “Conda” Mr. Bobby Oliver, had left earlier in the morning. What a day
for a ride the weather was over casted and the temperature was just right.  I had been feeling somewhat under the weather and had pretty
well decided that I was not going to make the ride until late Saturday morning. When I walked out side and felt the gentle breeze and the
coolness of the morning air that Harley and the open road was calling my name, I thought, I can be sick later.

As we waited in the parking lot of the Bruam’s ice cream store in Duncan for the Louisiana Soldiers, Al spoke with the “Blues man” Mr.
Arthur Lewis, who stated he was on his way. Within a few minutes you could here the roar of the Harley riders from Louisiana as they made
there way into the parking area of the store. What a sight, the soldiers from Louisiana being greeted by the Oklahoma Soldiers like long lost
relatives with one common bond, the love of motorcycling. We are all fortunate to have membership in a motorcycle club that instills the
dignity and respect that all Buffalo Soldiers have earned and so richly deserved over the years. Even through, I had not previously met any
of these brothers and sisters before there was an instant bond, an instance kinship.

As we lined up and rode out of the parking lot headed for Lawton, you could not help but feel the pride and the joy of being a part of a great
organization. We headed west on Hwy 7: In tight formation, very light traffic, just a prefect day for a ride.

Thanks to Lawn Mower we were all equipped with reflective vest so the entry into Fort Sill was seamless. The visiting soldiers were taken
first to the museum where they had the opportunity to walk through the picture gallery of Buffalo Soldiers, and later treated to the video
about the Buffalo Soldiers campaigns in Oklahoma and other areas of the southwest. While in the museum we were met by “Scooter” from
the Lawton Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers. It was decided to eat on the base and afterward travel to Medicine Park and Mount Scott. After a
brief detour to Scooters house, we made it to the top of the mountain so to speak. What a view and what a trumpet for some of our soldiers
and members of the Louisiana group.

We thanked Scooter and made our way towards Oklahoma City to Lady “K” house where we enjoyed great food and many laughs. Waiting
at Karen’s place was, “Lady Lawn Mower”, Ms. Faye Mitchell “Road Dogs” wife and two lovely daughters, Karen’s mother, “The Fugitive”
Mr. Eric Belonga and Helen, “Mac Daddy” Mr. Mackiel Brewer and his wife and Ms. Norma Stevens.  Karen was a gracious host, the evening
was splendid, the food was abundant we all had a great time.

On Sunday, they were treated to a tour of the Downtown Memorial, the National Western Museum and dinner at Road Dog’s home, I was
not there for the event at Road Dogs, but I am told it was great. Later in the evening we all went back to Karen’s place for some additional
fellowship and great food.

I gathered from the comments of our brothers and sisters from Louisiana, it clear to all of us that they there over whelmed with the fellowship
and they all had a great time, they were treated like king and queens.

On behalf of our President Mr. Alvin Scott, thanks to all of our Oklahoma Chapter soldiers that made the visit by our fellow soldiers from
the great State of Louisiana a great success.

Mr. Alvin Scott, President Buffalo Soldiers, Oklahoma Chapter.
