"Ready and Forward" Vol. 1 (March 2005)
|
Greetings Soldiers, welcome to our first
Buffalo Soldiers News Letter. My goal is to
inform and entertain you with news and
information concerning our chapter.
First I’d like to congratulate our new President
and Vice, “Big Sarge” and “Soulja”.
Gentlemen we are here to assist you. Well, on
with the news. As you all know we had our
first Frontier meeting here in Shreveport on
the 19th through the 21st of March. Things
kicked off without any glitches. We had a total
of five cities attending…Houston, TX,
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kansas City, MO,
Mississippi (Mother) and New Orleans. Each
chapter was represented by their President
and Vice along with various members from
their Chapters. The fun kicked off Friday
afternoon with our greeting committee; “Lady
Enforcer”, Karen (Soulja’s wife) and Louise
(Big Sarge’s wife). Much props’ go out to you
ladies, we couldn’t have done it with out you.
A women’s touch just does something special
every time. “Ready and Forward…”, after
some chapters arrived, we rode to Brother’s
Seafood for some fine Shreveport dining and
beverages. Everyone got their eat-on and
enjoyed the food and hospitality. Later that
night it was time to part our separate ways
and partake in our own endeavors. For me it
was time to retire for the night…guess I’m
getting old. Saturday started off early with
“Soulja” providing escort for various riders
around our fair city…meanwhile our
welcoming committee provided delicious
snacks for our guest to enjoy. We also had a
vendor from Irvine, TX, selling Buffalo Soldier
paraphernalia. He provided us with some
pretty jazzy caps, T-shirts and jackets. Then,
1300hrs rolled around and it was time for the
Frontier Meeting. What a long process with
many accomplishments.
Towards the closing of the meeting we voted
for the Frontier Representative. The winner
was “Old School” from Houston, an excellent
choice. Finally, the big event came that we
were all waiting for…our group ride. We had
all makes and models from Harley’s to Honda’
s, Suzuki’s to Kawasaki’s, Cruiser’s to Sport
Bikes no one was left out. I must give big-ups
to “Doc Matrix”, excellent route choice
brother. We cruised some very scenic areas I’
ve never witnessed before, keep in mind I’ve
been here for 11 years now. The group
continued to ride on to Ford Park for a photo-
shoot, I had to break off and get ready for the
night’s event. You can view the photos on our
web site under Frontier (LA)’05. We had
approximately 30 bikes rolling through town,
what an awesome sight to see all the
brothers/sisters coming together to share the
same passion, it gave me goose bumps. Later
that evening we topped off the big event with
a party at Mables. We treated our guest with
like royalty, a private-VIP lounge on the third
floor. Good fellowship transpired and some
gettin’- down-on-the-flo’ as we say it here in
Shreveport. Sunday morning we woke up to a
cloudy, rainy day. However, the departing
soldiers were geared up and ready to
roll…adapt and overcome. Waved off by our
President and Vice. Everyone made it home
safely. Well that’s it for this edition soldiers.
PEACE.
