Ready and Forward
Vol. 1, March 2006
motorcycle police and led by Rapides Sheriff's
Department motorcycle troops.  Pineville
Mayer Clarence Fields and Alexandria Mayor
Ned Randolph presented a joint proclamation
declaring Saturday 4 March ’06 as “Buffalo
Soldiers Day.” This momentous occasion was
closed by a 21 gun salute from the Pineville
Honor Guard.  Alexandria’s National Cemetery
is home to 57 original Buffalo Soldiers.  If you’
re ever in Alexandria, take a moment to stop
by the Cemetery and pay respect to our fallen
fathers.  This addition of the Alexandria
chapter practically gives us full coverage of
the state from the Northwest corner, Central
and ending in the Southeast.  We want to
extend a hearty welcome and a big thank you
for your hospitality Alexandria.
Moving on, another milestone was reached
this month.  Our club President Big Sarge,
after serving 25 years in the U.S. Air Force,
has retired with honors.  We are proud to
have members like this amongst our ranks
and we want to wish Big Sarge much
prosperity and may God bless you and your
family in your future endeavors. Thank you for
serving!  Well brothers and sisters that is it
for this edition…until next time.  “If the truth
hurts, you’ll be in pain.  If the truth drives you
crazy, you’ll be insane.”   -Sista Soulja-

Greetings soldiers, by any measure, 2005
was a memorable year…a year marked by
unprecedented disasters, excruciating
sacrifices, and dramatic aspirations for
peace, freedom and dignity.
The world mourned the passing of Rosa
Parks, Coretta Scott King and many other
prominent figures of our community.  We
should also take time to mourn those who
are fighting the global war on terrorism.  In
addition to this man-made scourge, we
witnessed the natural disasters that defied
imagination, from the horrible destruction
wrought by the Asian tsunami, South Asian
earthquake and the painful images of our
own people suffering in the wake of
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
However, we have remain vigilant in our
faith and reached out to our brothers and
sisters in New Orleans and Mississippi in
order to provide as much comfort as we
could to help them get back to
normalcy…granted we are not all the way
there yet, but we will continue to strive to
get there.
As we move into a new year, we are excited
to announce a new BSMC to join our
national ranks.  On March 4, 2006 the
Alexandria, LA chapter chose to celebrate
their induction as the 48th chapter of the
group with a historical service.  60 bikers
from the BSMC included members from
chapters in Mississippi, Texas, and Georgia,
as well as Louisiana, took part in a
motorcade from the Farmer's Market in
Alexandria to the Alexandria National
Cemetery in Pineville, LA.  The procession
was escorted by Pineville and Alexandria
